I never see locks like this in the US. We tend to use more modern looking things with complex keys, shiny metal, and brand names emblazoned. But, in the UK and Europe, these are everywhere. They look ancient to my eyes, but are just as likely to be more recent. They are definitely more photogenic, thank you very much.
